Grand Summary

The five articles discussed in this overview all centre around leadership styles. They investigate several aspects of leadership, such as the different leadership styles, their efficacy, and how they affect the functioning of an organization. The significance of leadership in fostering organizational success is a recurrent issue across the articles. Effective leadership has been discovered to have a direct influence on employee engagement, productivity, and overall performance. Therefore, leaders and managers need to have a solid awareness of the different leadership styles and their impact on the outcomes of their organizations.

The topic of transformative leadership is one of the primary focus of attention throughout the articles. This approach to leadership emphasizes the leader's capacity to inspire and motivate individuals to perform to the best of their abilities and realize their full potential. It is distinguished by having a clear vision, outstanding communication skills, and a primary emphasis on the growth of its staff members. The articles emphasize the favourable effects that transformational leadership has on organizational performance, including greater work satisfaction, engagement, and innovation.

Transactional leadership is another type of leadership that has been discussed in the articles. This type of leadership is centred on creating distinct structures, rewards, and penalties to push employees to reach particular goals. Although this approach accomplishes short-term goals, it may not be long-term sustainable. The articles underline the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between transactional leadership and other leadership styles to achieve long-term success.

The articles also discuss the idea of servant leadership, which is based on the premise that leaders should prioritize the needs of their employees and act as role models for ethical behaviour. This topic is discussed in more detail in one of the articles. It has been discovered that adopting this style can boost employee engagement, job happiness, and trust in leadership.

The articles not only cover the different leadership styles, but they also discuss the influence that gender has on the efficacy of leadership. Notwithstanding the progress made toward increasing gender diversity in leadership roles, there is still a significant lack of women in positions of senior leadership. The articles emphasize how important it is for businesses to eliminate discrimination based on gender and foster an environment that is more welcoming to all employees.

Leadership Styles and Productivity

Author(s): Shweta Tewari and Rajashree Gujarathi

Leadership is vital to organizational performance, and managers must adopt appropriate leadership styles to boost productivity levels. This article explores the relationship between different types of leadership and the level of productivity that can be achieved in a workplace that allows employees to telecommute. The study examined the replies of 50 telecommuting employees and supervisors who completed a survey questionnaire consisting of 25 questions. According to the study's findings, there is a significant difference in how various leadership styles influence employee happiness and productivity. The study also suggests that a transformational leadership style is the most successful in improving productivity.

The research study's findings on leadership styles and productivity in working environments that allow for telecommuting have major implications for different types of organizations (Tewari et al., 2019). The research was carried out in the context of a company that allowed for telecommuting; nevertheless, the findings are also transferable to other types of workplaces. Effective and suitable leadership is essential to any business's success; for this reason, managers are responsible for developing and implementing appropriate leadership styles. According to the study's findings, the most effective method for increasing productivity levels is to adopt a transformational leadership style defined by good communication and collaboration.

The leadership style used by an organization's managers is a significant factor in determining the level of success that the organization enjoys. The study's findings suggest that a transformational leadership style is the most successful in boosting productivity levels in remote work. This conclusion is especially pertinent to my professional background since I have been in charge of leading remote teams and am familiar with the difficulties of managing personnel from a distance. I have seen firsthand how effective communication, cooperation, and employee involvement in decision-making can greatly impact productivity levels. These are essential components of a transformational leadership style, and I have seen how important they are to this style.

Servant-Leadership and Forgiveness: How Leaders Help Heal the Heart of the World

Author(s): Jiying Song and Dung Q. Tran

Within the context of leadership, the writers investigate the idea of forgiving. They say that forgiving one's subordinates is essential to good leadership since leaders who can forgive their employees are more likely to inspire loyalty and trust. The authors discuss the creation of the Leadership Forgiveness Scale to evaluate leaders' ability to forgive others who have wronged them. This scale contains elements that measure a leader's willingness to forgive their subordinates, their capacity to let go of unpleasant feelings, and their willingness to restore their relationships with their direct reports (Song et al., 2020). In addition, the study delves into the implications of the Leadership Forgiveness Scale for cultivating leadership skills and abilities. The authors contend that businesses can foster a more upbeat and fruitful atmosphere in the workplace by making forgiveness a central tenant of their leadership philosophies and practices.

The findings and implications of the article can be extended to a wide variety of workplaces and organisations. For example, the Leadership Forgiveness Scale developed throughout the research can be utilised to measure forgiveness in various leadership roles and fields, including the education sector, the healthcare sector, and non-profit organisations. The scale can also be modified for usage in other cultural settings, which is useful given that different communities place varying amounts of importance on forgiving others.

I found the article to be both interesting and thought-provoking. As I have personal experience with the good benefits that forgiving others may have on a group's morale, productivity, and general success, I have always firmly believed that forgiveness should be seen as a central component of the leadership value system. In addition, the article has caused me to consider the significance of forgiveness not just in my professional life but also in my personal life. Forgiveness is a strong tool for enhancing personal relationships and one's general health and well-being, as it can improve working relationships and the dynamics of teams in the workplace.

Leadership Styles and Value Systems of School Principals, Teachers' Perspective towards Leading Schools

Author(s): Zalik Nuryana and Arif Rahman

This study investigates teachers' viewpoints on the leadership styles of their respective school principals. To gather information for the study, 30 instructors who were employed in secondary schools participated in a survey. To do so and to do so. According to the survey findings, the leadership style teachers value the most is transformational, followed by transactional, and then laissez-faire. The study also found that teachers have a higher opinion of the effectiveness of their principals if the principal can exhibit a high level of value system alignment with the instructors in their school. The research concluded that the most successful way for school principals to increase their performance as leaders are to make cultivating positive connections and common values with their teaching staff a top priority

The findings have wider implications for other workplaces, despite the research paper's primary focus on secondary school principals and teachers. The research sheds light on the significance of different leadership philosophies and value systems in enhancing the efficiency of leadership and fostering constructive interactions between superiors and those they supervise (Nuryana & Salsabila, 2020). These crucial elements apply to various organizations and fields, not simply the education sector. As a result, the recommendations made in the study for school administrators to prioritize the development of relationships and shared values also apply to other types of work settings.

I have had the opportunity to work with leaders that adhere to various leadership philosophies and value systems. I have observed how these aspects can influence the effectiveness with which they manage teams. The emphasis that the study places on the significance of creating relationships and shared ideals between leaders and their subordinates is consistent with the perspective that I have regarding leadership. In the future, I plan to make cultivating relationships and developing a collective vision with the members of my teams a top priority to foster a constructive environment at work and boost employee productivity.

Leadership Styles and Leadership Behaviors in Family Firms: A Systematic Literature Review

Author(s): Alexander Fries and Nadine Kammerlander

Leadership is an essential component of the success of any business, and it plays a significant part in determining the culture and the level of performance within the organization . However, because family and business systems sometimes overlap, leadership in family businesses is frequently difficult to define and always one of a kind. The authors collected 42 papers that fulfilled their inclusion criteria and then analyzed those articles to determine leaders' different leadership styles and behaviour in family businesses. According to the findings, family businesses have a distinct combination of authoritarian and participative leadership styles, with a preference for the former (Fries et al., 2020). Family leaders tend to exhibit behaviour that prioritizes maintaining family peace and heritage, such as an emphasis on tradition and loyalty and a reluctance to seek advice and help from outside sources.

This item also has significant repercussions for executives of businesses that are not family-owned. Even if specific leadership styles and behaviours may vary between family and non-family businesses, it is essential to comprehend and adjust to the particular context of each organization. This is a lesson that can be applied in any business. To effectively guide their teams, leaders in every organization must understand its history, culture, and core values. It is necessary to grasp the precise mix of autocratic and participative leadership styles and behaviours that leaders demonstrate in the particular organization to accomplish this.

This article gave me new perspectives and made me think about new ideas. As a person who aspires to become a leader in the business world, it is necessary to consider the unique obstacles and opportunities that occur in family businesses. A person who aspires to be successful in the role of a leader should always remember that effective leadership necessitates having a profound comprehension of the context in which one is operating.
